To study in New Zealand, you must secure an Offer of Place from an approved provider, show proof of sufficient funds (NZD 15,000–20,000/year for living), and apply for a student visa. Admission Requirements

  • Academic: Bachelors requires 65–70% or higher; postgraduate requires 50–60% or above in undergraduate studies.
  • English Proficiency: Typically an IELTS score of 6.5 overall (no band < 6.0) or equivalent TOEFL/PTE scores.
  • Documents: Valid passport, academic transcripts, and a Statement of Purpose (SOP). 

Visa Process

  • Offer of Place: Secure admission from an NZQA-registered education provider.
  • Financial Evidence: Demonstrate funds for tuition and living expenses.
  • Insurance: Purchase mandatory comprehensive medical and travel insurance.
  • Application: Apply online or via a visa application center at least 8 weeks before travel.
  • Health & Character: Provide police certificates if the stay is 24 months or longer. 

Scholarships & Financial Aid

  • Automatic Scholarships: Some universities offer up to NZD 15,000 for bachelors and NZD 10,000 for masters programs, often included with the offer letter.
  • Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships: Funded by the government for students from developing nations.
